Mediatisation of science in Polish press (1975) — popularisation or novelty seeking?
Scientific communication — regardless of its form — always uses aparticular medium that allows the exchange of ideas and reflections but also affects the quality of the message itself. One of the media used to convey the science-oriented discourse is the press, where academic matters, such as the newest discoveries or research approaches, are mentioned. This paper shows the findings of quantitative research undertaken on the representative press titles from 1975. The purpose of the analysis was to determine which channels were used in the process of mediatising science in the period before digital revolution (in the 1970s), and to indicate possible reasons as well as consequences of choosing aparticular channel.
